Do I need a new motor.

Asked by Guru9ZSGBM Dec 07, 2020 at 03:12 PM about the 2013 RAM 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab 4WD

2013 oil filter melted. And truck just died. It will
turn over just will not start. Took it to a shop they
changed oil new filter.  Still no start. So 300 bucks
later and a compression test he said motor blown.
Is there any thing else that could have caused this.
And should I get a second opinion

I have never heard of an oil filter melting. That would take a huge amount of heat which probably means you had other problems.

Melted oil filter is bad and expensive.

The only thing I can think of is the exhaust was nuclear hot and it melted the filter.

Wonder if it got hot as hell and melted the insides of the filter. If it got that hot then it is toast.
