Why does my 99 dakota emitt plume of smoke from exhaust when i start it?

Only happens when i start it, and smells rich in gas i thiink. Any ideas?

Smoke in exhaust is a sign of worn valve guides. The oil leaks down when the engine is off and burns on start up. Smoke when running is a sign of worn rings.
