fuel gauge is staying way past full mark

hello   i have a 2000 r/t convertible with just $10k miles & i just took out of storage and drove it about 80 miles & the Gas gauge is not moving , its staying way past the Full mark ? should i let it get low on gas & try & refill it or is the gauge bad ? all other gauges are working fine ?   if so please respond back to me my email is lflorio@aol.com   Your responses will be greatly appreciated.   Thank You

the gauge is getting a signal, its fine, the problem would be the sending unit in the tank is stuck or has failed.
