Engine sound

I know the sound you're describing and every time I've heard that in an engine, it's soon to lock up. You said it has oil but do you know if the oil pump is working properly.

I agree with brotherben, my neighbor's car developed the sound that you are hearing in yours, the oil dipstick showed full, problem was the oil pump was malfunctioning. Her brother caught it in time, she was lucky not to have to do mayor repairs to the engine. So, just in case, I suggest that you have it checked ASAP.

Thanks guys. Yea I don't know if the oil pump is functioning correctly or how to even check but it sounds like it could be more serious than I though.. I'll have to get it looked at. It's been doing it for a little over a month now.

My car does the same thing but it is not the oil pump did you figure out what the problem was with your vehicle

I have 2014 Kia Forte and right around the 100,000 mile mark mine started making the same type noise you’re describing. Brought to dealership and was told it was timing chain

@GuruCNRDF how much did the timing chain repair cost ? Did u notice any other sounds from the engine?

Kia/Hyundai motors are tricky. Sometimes the ticking sound could come from loud lifers or injectors. Or maybe worse, piston slap and loose connecting rods.

Most of the kia mechanic s n other mechanics that looked at my 2011 kia forte ex told me its the injector pump thats making the noise because its runs no smoke no check engine lights no hesitation or any thing else sterts fight up n drives but that fast loud ticking sound is terrible. what does everybody think ?

I have a 2015 kia forte lx and it has 104xxx miles on it and got a oil change done on it and a few days later started hearing this ticking noise and it hasn't went away also noticed my fuel mileage has gone down anyone know what it might be? Wish I could upload a video so people could listen to It but don't have that option thanks guys.

My 2015 did that and I took the Kia and my engine was locked they are telling me they have no reason why the engine was locked and that it will cost $9000 or more to fix it

My 2012 Kia is having the same issue. The other Kia's had recall on their engine but forte was not a part of the Recall Does anyone know why?

Hi Tisha, I posted this 2 years ago and since then the sound still exist. (Unrelated)About 3 months ago it got louder when I would hit the gas at a low speed. I had kia look at it and they diagnosed it incorrectly saying that it was the AC compressor. I didn't believe them so I went to another reputable garage and it turned out that it was actually the alternator. The garage informed me that the knocking sound is just they way kias are over time they develope knocking sounds that aren't necessarily healthy for a motor. He said that's probably not the answer I wanted but that it was the truth, you get what you pay for. I mentioned the recalls and he said they should all be recalled. I was also told to try using a Kia brand oil filter to help the oils flow faster from cold start. I purchased one but have not needed to change my oil. Next month I will put it on and let you know if there is a difference. Overall it shouldn't be anything to be too worried about. Just make sure you keep up with your oil changes and keep a look out for future recalls. Since this post I have put over 40,000 miles on my car and have only had to replace the serpentine belt, alternator, resignator, tires and breaks. Car has 105,000 miles on it now

Two simple things to check #1 serpertine belt tensioner and air compressor (clutch or bearing) that's solve my problem on my 2013 Kia Forte. Just may sure before don't guess.
