Intermittent Battery light 2013 Dodge Avenger

Asked by FScott2013 Jul 02, 2018 at 10:16 AM about the 2013 Dodge Avenger SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my car this morning and the battery light
came on after a few miles. I stopped at the gas station
and killed the car. When I got back in and started it, the
battery light was not on. I drive all the way home and the
light never came back on. I left again to run an errand and
it came back on after a few miles. I started it after finishing
the errand and drove all the way back home without it
coming back on. Anyone have any ideas?

It could be a few things. I would start simple by checking the alternator for proper voltage (AutoZone, AdvancedAuto, and O'Rileys should all be able to check) Try to stop at one of these places while the light is on. Next, I would check the battery cables and grounds for good connections/contact. Last, it could be the PCM (Regulates alternator) but seems fairly unlikely.

SIMILAR SYMPTOMS TO MY ISSUE. REPLACED ALTERNATOR FEW MONTHS AGO. YESTERDAY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE, NOTHING SEEMED WRONG. BUT I SHUT OFF A/C RADIO ETC. DROVE HOME 20 MINUTES. RESTARTED TRUCK NO LIGHT. WENT TO AUTO STORE FOR TEST. PERFECT TEST (WITHOUT BATTERY LIGHT ON) DROVE AROUND WITH A/C ON FOR 30 MIN LIGHT CAME BACK ON. RETURNED FOR ANOTHER TEST. INDICATED BATTERY FAILURE... REPLACED BATTERY. DROVE AROUND A/C ON 30 MIN LIGHT BACK ON & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. RESTARTED AGAIN LATER NO BATTERY LIGHT BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RAN TRUCK IN IDLE WITH A/C ON 30 MIN NO LIGHT.. CHECKED ALL WIRES ETC...

Okay, the issue with the Dodge avenger battery light, is very simple, if ur alternator is charging and u also have already a new battery, and ur battery light is still on, replacing ur terminals, might work for u, but if it still on after, the last thing is very simple, this is what u should have done in the first place, next to ur starter, there's a ( 14 Gage fuse wire that, u have to replace, is very simple Find them in ur auto store's less than $5 Buck's. Unscrew the 13 mm nut next tu ur starter. remove the burn wire cut, replace. Problem solved.
