2013 Subaru Legacy hesitation from stop

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently was handed down a 2013 Legacy. It has 152k on it and has been
dealer maintained during its entire life and majority of the miles are highway.
The last 2 weeks I have driven it daily in town and noticed no issues. Today it
seemed like every single time I had to accelerate from a stop, it hesitates
severely from a stop but if I jump on the highway it cruises right up to 80mph
without any effort or hesitation at all. I did recently fill the gas tank with
Safeway brand gas (I have seen issues with injectors talked about) so I
added injector cleaner today and drove around. Id like to get a better
understanding of what might be going on and whether it relates to mileage
with the (trash) CVT. Note: I spoke to my mother and she said this has
happened periodically in the past.

As much as I have seen the CVT complained about and it was mentioned by
the dealership when they asked about this occurrence. I find it hard to
imagine that a intermittent occurrence could be the CVT. They have had
dealer maintenance but do not know if the transmission fluid or filters have
ever been changed. Is it worth spending the money to have the filters and
fluid changed out?

After driving today it seems that it is isolated to the 1st takeoff is fine and snappy. Once car shifts into 2nd it hesitates slowly gaining speed at 3-3500rpm and even has some lunging. I can floor it or manually shift to 3rd and all is well.
