serpentine belt keeps coming off

Asked by Virgil Jul 10, 2016 at 08:57 PM about the 2000 Dodge Caravan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 3.0 dodge caravan. Just had timing
belt replaced and water pump before I bought it.
Owners said just needed a pulley and a belt.
Bought belt put it on and was too loose and
caused the belt to keep coming off. Tensioner is
fine what else could cause the belt to be too
loose??

those are a pain in the A...... i have one ..they dont have a good factory idler set up .if any water gets on mine it pops right off..get the GOOD/RIGHT BELT...it adjusts/swings with a wrench on the center idler/tensioner nut real easy...

Wrong belt or serpentine alignment, The tensioner wear marks are fine? Double check the belt make sure its correct ! you can always fit a smaller belt.
