Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I have been trying to figure out a fair value of a particular car. When I fill out the details to the car, I get of aprox  value  of $11,000 When I do a search by VIN I get a  aprox  value of $9500 which number is more accurate? and why do the numbers vary so much?

The more information you input on miles, options and condition the more accurate the price will be.

Im looking at that IMV number in both cases, as far as aprox mileage trim, and options go I'm fairly certain the VIN number tells them that. The car has a new engine in it because it was under warranty, when they found chips in the engine. What puzzles me is the search by VIN would know that it has a new engine in it so you would think the search by VIN would bring about a higher car value vs search by detail where there is nowhere to note the car has a new engine but it's the oppisite search by VIN brings a lower estimate vs search by detail.

There is no way any cost guide can calculate that you have a newer engine in the car. Just list that in the description. It won't net you much more money, maybe just help sell it faster. Don't get hung up on the IMV price, it's calculated. It is just a guide for potential buyers. List your vehicle what you think is fair.

The VIN does not give mileage, location or condition. Only the options it was built with.
