Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been tired of hearing my right side front end rattle when I go over a pothole. I recently got a diagnostics check on my truck and they said I had a loose brake. When I pulled the tire off to tighten my torx bolt. I noticed that one of my torx bolts was missing? My question is where can you get a replacement torx bolt and could this be what is causing my front end to rattle?

I would go to your local dodge dealership and ask them if they sell brake hardware. I work for a ford dealer and we carry that kind of stuff. However that kind of thing does not just come out on its own chances are someone left it loose or the threads are stripped and replacing the bolt wont help you as you will probably need a thread cert to repair the damage. Either way i would go talk to your dodge dealer parts department and see if they carry the part your after. And having a missing bolt will cause a rattle but it should only be when your braking not going over bumps. I would also double check to make sure you dont have any anti rattle clips that have come out (metal shim between the brake pad and the caliper bracket) if applicable.

if the torx fell out, its threads are prolly stripped out. easiest fix is going to your local napa and buying a fully loaded caliper, which comes with the caliper, caliper mounting bracket, all the bolts, and new pads. hope this helps. and its also fairly inexpensive
