what causes rear brake cylinder leaking

The calipers have hydraulic cylinders. If the seals go bad they will leak.

Yes, there is a nut on the end of the cylinder and that seems to be where the fluid is leaking out. Are seal replacements a low cost repair? Like, no more than $100.00?

If it has a funny looking end on it and a small hole in the end it is the bleeder screw.

looks more like a nut on the end of a bolt and only a thread or two are beyond the face of the nut. I didn't see anything like a bleeder screw, but I am in my warm house and not my 8F garage right now.

TY F_O_R. I'm going to check Napa etc. for cost of replacement of this cylinder. It's just something I've never had to replace on any vehicle I've owned. Somedays, I want my 83 Accord again - the lowest maintenance vehicle I ever owned and it went 220K miles!
