Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove in my vehicle to service at BMW dealership because engine light was
on and running at low speed its a 2012 BMW X5
they told me it have lots of codes come up but the main one is the high
pressure fuel pump and cost $3000 to repair , i agreed to have it repaired
two days later they told me they took it out for the 2nd test drive and it stalled
on the highway, they towed it back to the dealership and told me its a major
engine issue and cannot fix it. what are my rights they told me I have to get
my vehicle towed out and they will try to remove the part??? what should I
do??

The car's ten years old and BMW has no obligation to deal with it. It seems that they are treating you fairly, as they understand that the cost for them to repair your car would exceed the car's value. If you choose to pursue repairs, I suggest you have it towed to an independent mechanic who's certified by BMW to get another opinion. They might have a source for a reliable replacement engine for you at a price that might save the car.

I agree with Ed92626. The vehicle is 10 years old and they don't want to be bothered with it! I'd contact BMW North America and see what they're willing to do. My guess is not much. Let this be a lesson learned. When a high end car gets old it's just like everything else, not worth fixing. Time to move on! Jim

Watch out for high pressure fuel systems in any car , you'll see separate lines for each injector instead of a fuel rail .

I would have an independent garage that works on german cars look it over for you. They might be able to fix it.
