Are the lights and dashboard meter working ? If yes check your starter motor it might've been stuck. If no check all the fuses in your fuse board and make sure they're all good if any is damaged replace them and try again.Good luck

If you have an owners manual, or can get one, you will find a fuse box diagram with correct fuse amperage's and the circuits' they energize....or go to your local parts store and buy a $25.00 repair manual

Ok, I've got the 98 Dakota, and I have an issue with my Auto Shut Off relay getting hot and my truck will sput and sputter. As soon as I change it out with one of the spare relays, it goes back to normal. Also, the fuel pump relay is right beside it. If you aren't hearing the buzz of the fuel pump kicking in, it could be either the relay, or there is also a fuse in the panel that isn't even labelled correctly that actually goes to the fuel pump. Turns out that's why mine shut down.
