Interior Lights

Asked by GuruT5RHK Jun 14, 2018 at 09:16 PM about the 2012 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dashboard lights dimmed at the same time the overhead lights in the front
turned on. Exterior light at the back of cab doesn't go off in a timely manner.
I pulled the fuse for the overhead lights, turned the switch off for back seat area
and exterior light when off when it felt like it.
Anybody?

Likely a bad door switch or short in the wiring harness. Does it have aftermarket running boards, by chance?

I bought it second hand. They were on there when I got it. They don't look like they are aftermarket, they have the Ford symbol on them.

Unless they were installed at the factory, and even if they were, they may have damaged the wiring harness when they drilled into the rocker panels. Worth checking out. Still, check the door switches.

The reason it could be the running board area or door switches is because of the long delay you described with the lights going off. Stray voltage will mess up an electronic timer.
