2002 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4, 4.7 v8 Magnum: headlights, interior lights, electric locks and windshield wipers will not work after battery died

Asked by Tavia Jun 01, 2015 at 11:23 PM about the 2002 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This morning, I needed to jump my truck as
it had died from using it too long without
running the engine.
Now, it starts up just fine but I cannot get
the head lamps, interior labour, windshield
wipers or the electric door locks to function.
I have checked the fuses and they are in
good condition/not broken.
How do I fix this since 3 out of 4 are needed
for regular use?
Side note, the security light continues to
blink intermittently, which is unusual since
it never did before the battery died.

Your truck is in antitheft mode, try removing the positive cable for about ten minutes, with the key out of the igintion, then place key in the truck turn to the on position, and replace cable, and crank truck.

If lights and all dont come back, you have a main blowed fuse, from low amprage from battery being weak.

That makes sense, which fuse is the main as I couldn't find it on the diagram?

Can,t find a diagram, but it will be a 30 amp big fuse, should be under hood in fuse panel. It will be marked main.

I had the same problem I found out I had a ground wire hooked up to the alternator instead of the one coming from the battery to the alternator now I'm having a problem with I put the battery cables back on and it sounded like it was going to Arc out to ground and now nothing works so can anybody help me
