5.9 Magnum loses oil pressure

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota with a 5.9 360
magnum. It burns some oil(about 1 quart a month)
and has almost 170000 miles. After working hard
i.e pulling a trailer or romping it and the rpm drops
the check gages light comes on and i see that
there is no oil pressure.

It's possible that the oil pump is worn out. But I'd bet that if you ran a compression test, you'd find low and uneven compression, which proves the previous poster's theory, your entire engine is just worn out.
