2012 Camaro RS Project!

Asked by Navi Mar 01, 2017 at 12:41 AM about the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT Coupe RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I am planning on swapping my 3.6 liter engine with
a 6.2 liter engine from a SS or ZL1 Camaro. I heard
that I would have to replace the axels. Wouldn't I
have to get a better suspension also or..???

With all that power you need better brakes and suspension. The V6 rear axle will probably break so upgrade it too.

Is there anything else I should be worried about with an engine swap like this? Also, when you say suspension am I going to have to get a whole new suspension installed?

Just buy a zl1 and call it a day. Sell the v6 for whatever you can. The amount of money you will spend upgrading brakes, motor, suspension, fuel pump, rims and tires won't be worth it in the long run. Or buy a 1LE like I did now all I have to do is add a supercharger and I have a ZL1

If I had a donor car that happened to be a zl1 with no engine, could I swap most of those parts listed above with my car?

u can.. it just takes a lot of time to put the whole assembly together. expect it to take at least a year to do.

I wouldn't mind, it would be worth it to me personally. I would just love the fact to pull up in an RS having people not thinking much and then surprising them
