Any ideas what can be wrong with my truck

Asked by AdamForal Jan 16, 2016 at 12:00 PM about the 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was driving down the road and my truck died like it
was out of gas I was low on gas so thought that
was it so pushed it to the curb and turned the key a
couple times and it cranked up like it wanted to
start and I had power and lights to the truck so
figured just needed gas put gas in then went to turn
key and it didn't crank up just got a clicking sound
and still had power it did that about 4 or 5 times
and now I get absolutely nothing when I turn the
key and have no power at all or lights to the truck.
Thinking it's probably the battery but haven't
checked it yet just wanting to know if I'm on the
right track or is there something else it could be?

Just got the truck a couple months ago no sure exactly how old it is just gonna put a new one just to be safe hope that does the trick. Would a bad battery cause the truck to die like its out of gas? Because it died while I was driving right in the middle of the road or do you think I just ran out of gas and then the battery died while I was trying to start it back up cause like I said gas was low that's why I started there first?
