Malibu 2012 won’t crank without removal of fuel relay

Asked by ltrt29506 Aug 13, 2019 at 11:44 AM about the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having the SAME issues with my 2012 Chevy
Malibu too... I’ve already replaced fuel pump,
battery, alternator, fuel relay, and now my
mechanic is willing me to replace the BCM (body
control module) smh I am so exhausted with these
car issues! Spending unnecessary money that I
won’t get back... on a car that I can’t even drive
when and where I want without feeling nervous
about being stranded!!!! Also I been sensing a
weird egg smell.... when my car doesn’t start.

I would have done exactly what you did. My problem was no hot air only cold. I took it to a certified dealer. The dealer ran a diagnostic test. The cost will vary based upon location. Then I bought the after market parts, tool & fix the problem by myself. Alternately, for difficult job, the dealer usually, deduct the cost of diagnostic test from the total repair bill. In your case, if it is BCM, dealer will charge mark up price.
