Ram 1500 v6 won't start

Asked by Sublevel4 Feb 24, 2024 at 03:49 PM about the 2011 RAM 1500 ST

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had to replace the alternator, it died while driving and I had to get it towed.
It would run while hooked to a jump but as soon as you removed it the truck
stopped running. I replaced the alternator. After I did that it started right up
and ran. I turned it off and charged the battery throughout the next 24 hours.
The following morning I try to start it to go to work and I get all the normal
lights and no start. Not even clicking. red security light and the ]lightning[ are
on. I checked the fuses, and they are all good. I swapped around the relays
with no results. If i bypass the starter relay the engine turns over. I have a
neighbor with a scan tool and I pulled the codes, they are in the attached
image. The u1197 can mean the WIN module, PCM, or TIPM. There are a
few posts that I have seen that point to the WIM module being troublesome
and that's probably it. I would like to be more certain.

I think you need the dealer to re flash/replace something . a memory saver could have helped prevent things and having to charge a low battery can ruin a new alternator . Some times new parts are junk so things really need to be thought out and suspects omitted
