Why Jaguar procedures have changed toward certain customers?

Asked by GuruJNR6R Aug 03, 2020 at 12:58 PM about the 2010 Jaguar XF XF Supercharged RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car a 2010 Jaguar XF 4.2 was brought in for a recall of a defect in the
gas tank.  The appointment was for 11:00 a.m.  When I got there Michelle
told me that the car would not be going in right now but to find me a place to
go on the East Bank.  So, I did.  Then I informed her that the letter stated
that if it was over an hour then Jaguar would pay for accommodation.  Then
Ms. Michelle told that she had a loner and told me to wait until 1:30 pm.
After the driver came back and got my husband and me, she told me that my
car was too old for a loner but this was not what was told to me.  It was
something to 4 p.m. when my car was finished and we stated at the dealer
all that time.  Yesterday, we found out that the battery was not secure in my
car and batter cable was not tighten enough.  The battery was secure when I
bought the car to the dealer and cables was tighten.  My car stopped
whereas I had to charge my battery and quiet inconvenient.  This work was
slopped and have no trust in Jaguar anymore.  What type of place are you
running.  The service was outstanding before but now very poor.  My number
is 504-347-6219.

You must know that CG's is not a Jaguar dealer and that the dealer you went to will never see this post?

You need to complain to Jaguar Customer Service. You should also be aware that the recall you are referring to was first announced October 26, 2012. Then again April 4, 2016, then finally February 13, 2020. While safety recalls such as this never ever expire you have to realize that the Dealer is not going to have parts in stock for a 10 year old vehicle. Plus a high end Dealer such as Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, BMW, etc. are not going to be thrilled about working on a 10 year old vehicle! I'm not saying their treatment toward you is justified, because it's not. You should be aware of the attitude of the Dealer towards your vehicle and the fact that Jaguar will only pay the Dealer a set fee for the recall once the parts are found. On a 10 year old vehicle it will probably take longer and cost the Dealer more than they're going to be paid. So, complain to Jaguar and if a similar situation arises, plan on dropping your vehicle off and arrange for alternate transportation. Hope that helps! Jim
