Safety and reliability

Asked by Guru9K7BF Jul 11, 2017 at 04:58 PM about the 2012 Ford Transit Connect Cargo XL FWD with Side and Rear Glass

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just traded in my 2012 Subaru Forester for a 2012 Ford Transit Connect. Although my gut told me I was down trading because the Subaru had power, was rated well for safety and was 4WD, I found it had a lot of blind spots and was uncomfortable --it felt low inside. I did note the Ford had no power, although I liked the visibility and overall comfort. But I have read many reviews and people either love it or say it is the worst--spending fortunes of transmissions and other problems.  I may have to forego passing the way I want to but I do not want to break down.  What's the overall rating for this car for reliability and maintenance?

It is a little late to do research don't you think? Subaru's also have their problems such as the CVT and oil consumption. The Transit is based on the Ford Focus.

You are correct. But I still have option to buy drive train warranty. Ratings seem to say "great--very reliable" to "fourth transmission in two years." I can't find a consensus except value (good) acceleration (not good)
