2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible malfunction

The convertible top opens up perfectly fine but
when it opens there is a hydraulic that pulls one of
the small gray covers over the arm by the small
window in the back seat it retracts in but it will not
retract out how do you repair this

I have the same problem what is the actual name for the gray covers?

The pump is located behind the rear seat. It more then likely is low on fluid. I just pulled the rubber plug from the pump and refilled it with transmission fluid. Top worked perfectly after. The dealer wanted to charge $250 to do it.... I made the repair myself for less then $7 and it took about 20 minutes. Hope this helps!!!
I don’t think it’s operated by hydraulics or cable. Mine seems to be spring loaded and is pushed out of the way when the retracting hydraulic cylinder contacts a release under the cover. It may just be sticking in there.

It's a mechanical linkage that gets damaged from wear. I was able to repair mine with some scraps of plastic super glued to the plastic mating parts that allowed the two contact points to slide over each other. Sorry I don't remember exactly how I did it (2 or 3 yrs ago) but it worked fine afterwards. Definitely a mechanical, not hydraulic, issue and something u can cobble together urself.
