My 1997 Dodge Ram had a problem where it would run fine, the go into “limp home mode” running rough and can’t go over 20mph!. It could sit for a while and run fine, but do it again whenever it wanted. After spending lots of money at the dealer and other “Experts” I found out plug wires weren’t installed correctly and were sparking to ground causing computer to call a code. Hard to diagnose but try separating all the plug and coil wires!
