2012 Ford Focus Loud Popping

Asked by cmiller1248 Sep 06, 2016 at 07:53 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus SE

Question type: General

I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE. Every morning when I go to school, I turn my
car on and turn the heat on at the front windshield defroster setting. When I
get to school 7 minutes later, I turn the heat off and experience a loud
popping sound every ~.5 seconds. It sounds like it is coming from the lower
dash or control area where I turn the heat on and off. When I turn the heat
back on, the popping noise stops. As soon as I turn the blower off again, a
loud popping ensues. When I turn the car off the popping continues for
another 5 seconds and then halts completely. The popping also occurs
sporadically, it doesn't make the noise every day. What seems to be the
problem and how can it be fixed?
Thanks :)
