Open door light is on and the door is closed

Asked by speedyg84095 May 11, 2014 at 07:39 PM about the 2011 Honda CR-V SE AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2011 CR-V.  I drove it yesterday for 50 miles.  I went to get in it today and my "door is opened" light came on for the drivers door.  I slam the door and it still doesn't go off.  The car won't lock using the keyfob bcuz the car thinks the door is opened.  The car will lock manually when I hold the handle.  What could this be?

Try lubricating switch with wd 40. This sometimes fixes issues like this.

You have to reprogram the fob, to program you have to use your car key to 1,2 3 for 3 times but you do not start the car after 3 times you will get a sound system bip than you remove the key and press any batern on the fob try that I have done that before.

I had a similar problem with my 2010 CRV that I solved by replacing the latch mechanism in the door (rear hatch, instead), which at the dealership was over $100 but could probably be done much cheaper elsewhere. This also seems to have solved the issue I had with the alarm randomly going off, if anyone else had the same issues
