2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5 with CVT tranny. Just replaced
the head gaskets in this car. So I just had the engine out
and when I got it back in the car will not turn over. I can
jump it with a wire on the starter and I will crank over. It
will crank over but still will not start. It has gas, but I still
Could only get it to sputter with starting fluid.  All of the
connections look good and are in the right place to my
knowledge. When I turn On the key my dash also lights up
like a Christmas tree. Any advise for what this could be?

Double check to make sure you have the camshaft(s) in time with the crankshaft, even when the marks are lined up you could potentially have the crankshaft 180° out. One tooth off anywhere can cause starting issues, its always best to rotate the motor by hand 3 or 4 revolutions (in the normal running rotation) and the line the marks back up and double check that they're all good. Also keep in mind it can take time to purge air out of the fuel rail

As for all the lights on your dash, you've probably forgotten to plug something in. The connectors can be a pain but you must make sure that you hear them click or they tend to not make a connection
