Remove the spark plug from cylinder number 4 and look at the tip that goes in the engine. Is it wet? Smell it. Does it smell like gasoline? If so, it's a fuel injector problem fouling the spark plug. Or does it smell sweet, like coolant? If so, you have a head gasket problem. To confirm this, use a cooling system pressure tester and, with the engine cold, pressurize the cooling system. Now start the engine. If the needle on the pressure tester gauge bounces, the head gasket is blown. Is the spark plug black with dry fluffy deposits? That's soot from too much fuel. A fuel injection problem is indicated again. Is the spark plug black and wet with oily deposits? That's a bad valve guide seal, or worn rings on that cylinder. Is the spark plug white? That's a lean fuel mixture, not enough fuel. Again, a fuel injection problem. If you're not sure, post a picture of the spark plug when you get it out. Hope that helps! Jim

Is it causing a check engine light to come on? I had what seemed like a misfire - lack of power and terrible driving performance I had a knock sensor code and purchased the sensor $90.00 but it was not the problem so I would have to turn ignition switch to off and then restart and it would have restored power check engine light never went out so because knock sensor has lifetime warranty I took it back and they gave me a new one - but still no change Checked codes and that’s when I had now not one code but 3 codes knock, air intake and faulty ignition that’s what had me baffled . So in between battery going dead in less the 5 minutes but not always ? And running real dough sometimes but not always I found the ignition to be the problem with everything and it had to do with the faub in Aug it got wet and quit working when I tried to lol the car it wouldn’t and had sent a signal to the security lock system causing the key to not I gage properly and thriowing codes due to failure in system and brain communication this in detected by my mechanic and the remedy was to turn car ignition off (I have a 5speed trans )even as driving and it then drove fine -full power and no sign of system failure but still check engine light So a temp. fix and that was when I thought it threw and with multimeter figured it out it’s wasn’t fouled plugs or a bad battery and codes were result of the false reading from ign.switch I replaced the key assemble ignition switch PROBLEMS ALL SOLVED (except due to 4months of battery being drained it caused cells to weaken and we are expecting the need to replace battery soon but it is so far so good no codes and check engine light out Hope it helps you figure yours out and have been enlightened good luck and if you get stumped walk away go inside and relax it will refresh your mind and you can see things clearer it may be just oversight good luck and happy driving
