My 2003 dhs has 158k miles.. Idle just became unsteady

Asked by 2003RoyalDHSblue Jan 17, 2017 at 01:18 PM about the 2003 Cadillac DeVille DHS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This car usually runs/idles perfectly just recently once hot idle starts stuttering
down from 750 rpm to 500 rpm continuously , slowly and  wavy not sharp .
Before I dive in to replace filter looking to see if you guys have any tips or
maybe could be something other than the fuel filter

I would clean the idle air control first , and check fuel pressure when it wants to die before replacing the filter , no codes ? check for codes even if the check engine light isn't on . No sense in spending money if you don't know what the problem is , unless you don't mind .
