Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

My 2011 Chevy Malibu has 200,000 miles on it,
power steering just went out and needs sensor
replaced which is about $500 to fix, needs at least 2
new tires, and sounds funny sometimes. Should I
try to sell and for how much or should I try to trade
it in. I don’t have any extra money to spend on a car
so I have to down grade to an older cheaper car for
however much i can sell or trade in my car for.

500 $ for repair? and then some? And you say the car sounds funny !! forget the trade, sell it any offer , and start over,

Caroline, I haven't seen your car, and have no idea what condition it's in .. maybe it's beautiful??? BUT, the most economical thing you can do is have it fixed.... It's almost always less than purchasing a new or replacement car.... It's a 2011 model...cars last a very long time.. used to be 100,000 miles was the standard...now 200,000 miles is the standard....I have known people going 350,000 miles...if I were on a tight budget.. just keep it.... BUT, get it checked out by an independent mechanic...
