750 LI can a dead battery cause transmission issues

Asked by Bmw71 Dec 25, 2018 at 01:13 AM about the 2007 BMW 7 Series 750i RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 750 li it has less than 150k on it.  I
left for 4 months and when I got back the battery
was dead in my car.  Not sure how long it was
dead. Never had one slip of the transmission
before but now it slips between 2 and 3rd.  All o
did was jump the battery. It makes it almost
undrivable. Can this be from the dead battery?
Does it need to be flashed? Or do I really need a
new transmission? Thanks

A weak battery can all sorts of electrical gremlins. Usually it's a good idea due to the modules and such to remove battery from vehicles and recharge. I would load test the battery to see if it meets the CCA rated for the battery. If it fails the test replace and once it's running again check the alternator output voltage as well. Take it for a drive and have it go through all the shift points if possible. Good Luck!

Yes a weak or dead battery will effect the drivability of the vehicle. The engine will sound/have great power but after you put it into reverse or drive it will not move. Change your battery or get it recharge.
