Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hey guys!
I'm kind of a New driver (i got my license like
9months ago) and i was driving my moms car but
now i saved up enough money to buy my own, and
i wanted a BMW and i found a nice looking, 318i
which was made in 2007 and has 264.000 km in it.
I was wondering if anybody has experience with
highes mileage BMW, i mean like maintenance,
maybe future tuning or something alonge those
lines, if anybody coud help me i woud appreciate.

BMW's are already tuned from the factory and don't like power adders. You can but you will be spending thousands. High mileage BMW's require lots of maintenance. Cost of parts are high as well. Budget a couple thousand a year for this to be on the safe side. If you do work on your own cars you can save some money. At your mileage, you will be chasing oil and vacuum leaks, suspension components, etc. Things at this mileage start wearing out. Since this is your first car stick with a Toyota or Honda if you don't want to be under the car every month.

Yes i know i will be doing more maintenance than other brands but at the price point where i'm looking for car i can't really find anything that looks decent/doasent have like 500k+ km in it, and i'm kind of tall (1.95m) so i can't really fit into smaller cars that are awailable at this price point, in tuning i meant like beauty things like new wheels/lights maybe or stuff like that. But thanks for your oppinion!

Do you have a really good job to pay for all the repairs?

I have a job that i work on the weekends probably arround (500usd) a month that i coud use on the car if anything breaks but thats why i came to ask you guys is it due its life time and will be a money pit or is there potential in the car?

Do you want to have fun or have car that sits in the driveway most of the time because it does not run? If you made $2,000 a month my answer would be the same. $500 a month won't get you insurance and gas much less BMW repairs.

You don't want it! Older BMWs are troublesome and expensive to fix. If you were looking for a toy, maybe. But something like this for a daily driver that you're depending on. Nope, you're asking for trouble. A guy at work has a 2016 M6 with around 61,000 KM on it and it's an absolute piece of junk! In the past year he's put close to $10,000 in it for repairs. He's been broke down in it and had to be towed twice, at his expense, that I know of! Keep driving Mom's car until you find something other than a BMW that you like! You'll be glad you did! Hope that helps! Jim
