CTS Headlight problem

Asked by ronyxxx1 Mar 18, 2016 at 11:54 AM about the 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My right headlight went out. Because the lens was very glazed over, I
changed both entire assemblies, including new bulbs. The right headlight is
still out. What should I look at next?

Check Fuses under dash or in engine compartment. Sometimes the fuse box wire harness in engine compartment gets stress and tends to break the wires. Use a tester to see if you are getting power to light socket. Could be bad ground. Again follow the wires and inspect. Electrical is always tricky.

I'm sorry to hear you say that'll be the last Cadillac you ever owned. My 2009 CTS is a fantastic car it's an absolute animal in the snow. However I just tried to change the driver side light bulb just for the sake of getting the high beam to work thought I'd save myself some money I did everything according to the book. And I still can't get the left high beam to work. I was hoping somebody might have an answer could it be a fuse that just handles that one particular feature?

After hitting a deer I had to change out headlamp. Bulb quickly burned out in new lamp. Purchased new bulb, but took old lamp apart to be sure getting correct bulb. Found both old and new lamps had burned signs on connectors where bulb plugs in. Seems this is something that’s common.
