Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Window is only down near bottom...works only for a 4' space but looks like the arm controlled by the motor is set worng...it goes up 3" but would continue to go down after window reaches its lower limit if it could...do i have to remove the motor from the mechanism and set higher then re-install?? seems the best plan but so many bolts holding the entire thing in...325i Convertable and year 95

My best guess here is that the window is binding on way up. You can loosen the window tracks up slightly and run the window up. Then retighten and try again. Usually this works. Once you have it set lube up the guides.

sounds like the window regulator, they're known for going on E36 and E46 BMWs if you just search BMW window regulator problems you'll find everything you need to know

was neither in the end...an idiot whom re-painted put it back in wrong...it would only go 2 inches up / down but regulator went a lot further...so disconnected then told it (via switch) lower...then when stopped re-connected...works a treat now...guess the guy had it as a project..so a bit vague on what happened...ty all...now onto other electrical...no right turn signal...even on emergency signal....bulbs are fine though and all fuses present and accounted for..and tested good
