ford edge engine replacement

Asked by sfxfrk Sep 26, 2019 at 08:20 AM about the 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

hello all Ford Edge fans...I have a 2011 limited AWD 3.5LTR with 125,000miles on it and unfortunately the engine bottom end has problems....Ford suggested best to replace it with a used one...the car is awesome otherwise and we want to keep it....the cost might be almost the value of the car....love the interiors and finish...kindly suggest do I replace or flip to a another car

What did you end up doing? Just replace the engine in my 2013 Limited. On the fence of keeping or do I pay it forward? 90,000 miles and trying to figure out a price

ohhh, I'm following this discussion as I have the same story here. 2013 engine died after stalling out non-stop. Needs new muffler, battery, tires ... :( but $6-8,000 repairs still less than buying even a used something else I want!

I'm looking at having to replace the engine in my 2013 Limited as well. Got a quote from a local independent mechanic with a new 3.5L engine, came in at $8600. $4600 for the engine, Labor is 22 hrs at $100/hr plus changing out all seals/gaskets, etc. With average Trade-In value on my vehicle of $7900, I just think it's not a good investment. I'm also not a fan of putting in a used engine. There's no warranty except maybe a 30-day.
