2011 Kia Sorento 3 doors do not open

Asked by Guru9SYKV Jun 29, 2017 at 08:13 AM about the 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6

Question type: Car Customization

Kia sorrento 2011  neither dealer or corporate are
taking responsibility or sAying it's covered.
- front door did not open have to roll down window
to open door. Now both back doors won't open.
Took to dealer and will cost me $3500 to replace
both door panels in back.  Not covered under
warranty and not a defect according to Kia of
Anaheim California.  Really how can it not be a
defect?   I have a 7!year old and have to seat him in
front seat.  Not legal and not safe.   Very frustrating
the lack of responsiveness from corporate and
dealership.   Taking to outside shop to see if I'm
being swindled.  Never again will I buy recommend
a Kia to anyone.  Buyer beware!!!! Do not ever buy
any Kia.  Pretty soon I'll be crawling in from the
back to get to drivers side.

When I try to open the door and you look in door the frame is pulling apart from frame. Can't understand how 3 doors having issue within 2 weeks. Maybe Kia is doing something behind the scenes since everything is now electronic and they control what breaks next. Thanks for your response Tom. Will be stopping by car max to see what they would pay me to buy this pos. Excuse my description of car. (Not)

CLASS ACTION AT /// http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2015/kia-optima-door-lock- problems-class-action-lawsuit.shtml /// Kia Optima door lock problems will get a close look in a proposed class-action lawsuit filed by the owner of a 2003 Kia Optima who claims having problems unlocking both front doors. See if there have been "service bulletins" issued ,, if in an accident and you can't get out it could be deadly. Google "KIA doors fail to open" and see what pops up, contact your states authorities.

I own a 2011 Kia Sorento as well and experienced the same problems with my Doors back in May of this year. My drivers door along with the rear door on the drivers side would not open from the outside. The Kia dealership wanted to charge me $300 each to replace the piece needed. I cannot recall the name of the piece which needed to be replaced. However, what I did was call the Kia Consumer Affairs and explained my problem. The Consumer Affairs representative found an extended warranty which went out to the original owner as I wasn’t the original owner of the vehicle (I bought it pre-owned) and the warranty entitled me to have Kia replace the door latches at no cost to me. The warranty is WTY005. It’s dated 8/23/2016. I just had my door latches replaced in May of 2017. Please call Kia Consumer Affairs on 1-800-333-4KIA (4542) and ask for a copy of WTY005 and get your doors fixed for free. Kia has to replace the latches.

I appreciate this info, GuruZHJMP. My 2011 Kia Sorento driver-side door is also failing to open from the outside. Strange thing is that both the Kia dealer and the call center rep at Kia Consumer Affairs are saying there is no extended warranty for my vehicle on this issue. She said it's VIN-specific and said she had no way to access a copy of WTY005. Any ideas for proceeding with Kia on this, anyone?
