Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay well I have a 2010 Nissan with a 3.5 v6 and the
sport passage.... but when I'm going fast with the
"manual" ...( pad shifters ) it's all fine and I can go up to
7,000 rpms before it well change by its self but ather a
little bit it want go over 4,000 rpms before it well change
the gear and it feels like it loses power ..... idk what it
could be but I think it is the CVT getting hot and the
computer is trying not to hurt the car .... it just now started

The CVT is a known problem area. I would never even look at a Nissan with a CVT. You probably should have it checked out.

I have 2010 maxima with sport package. Sport package is just stiffer springs. CVT has no problems and car has no problems. Only issue is the driver seat. It rocks a little bit. They claim it was fixed, but it still rocks a little. Oh well, small issue. 80K on the clock and no problems. CVT is under mfg warranty until 140K Just make sure to change the CVT oil at the stealer every 70K

I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima with 134,000 on it. My car has been getting sluggish lately. I’m gonna change the CVT oil tomorrow, see if it helps. Secondly when I cold start my engine I have a rattling sound in the morning only once it starts.

So you are lucky you have so many miles on a cvt with no oil changes! I have a 2014 maxima with only 65,000 miles and the cvt needs replacement. I am having a new cvt put in as we speak. Should be ready for pickup by Friday! Was told in order to keep my new three year warranty valid, I must change cvt fluid every year and after they recommend every 25,000 miles if I want to extend the life of the tranny: the fluid does not last as long as normal auto trannies and overheats and wears down almost as fast as your full synthetic motor oil. So ya 70,000. Miles is not good advice. I would say if u are on a budget change fluid every 30,000 miles at the least to keep that cvt from going bad under 100k miles

Must change cvt fluid annually for the first three years in order for the warranty to be good. Do not go through Nissan is u purchase a new transmission. Yea they are a couple hundred bucks cheaper than other shops for this, but only offer a one year warranty for 4,000 dollars! Nissan, what a joke! Never buy a Nissan again! But I found a transmission shop in Colorado Springs that will warranty for three years for a 400 dollar price difference. After my warranty expires I will be selling this car so I don’t have to buy another cvt in the futures would rather buy a newer nicer “more reliable” car for that price. Wish I woulda known the problems these cars have before purchasing
