Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Honda CRV seems to be consuming oil. What could be causing this?
Thanks

The usual cause is a worn engine. You should make sure the PCV is working properly. How many miles on the engine? What weight oil do you use and how many miles does it take to use 1 quart of oil?

Really good engines use up oil to lubricate the cylinders and rings, and therefore, typically have a longer life span. The questions I ask: how much oil is used in the normal time from oil change to oil change? Is the engine exhaust smoking at any time, like on acceleration? There are lots of variables, but if your engine is running good and there is no smoke or other obvious problems, I would just be sure to keep an eye on the dipstick and keep the oil level full, since there is no reason to ruin a good engine for lack of oil.

lots of honda is like this mine takes about 1 liter per 5000kk ow20 sintec is clear and rings will not seal 100% if it gets realy bad you may check with your local dealer if they can do it on waranty,,new rings,,lots been done but you will need to do their consumption test 1 st,,,they will tell you it s normal to go down a liter or two...good luck
