Question type: Maintenance & Repair

With my most recent car bill I got yesterday, consisting of preventative maintenance, I was wondering if the amounts I've spent
maintaining the car, car repairs is average, below average, or above average for a car like this? Have I gotten my moneys
worth in terms of repairs?

Current Mileage: 188,231. No Check Engine Lights, no Fault Codes.
111,019, 544.120 Replaced 2 Drive belt Idler Pulley, Drive belt Tensioner, Serpentine Belt
121,044 $441.66 Front/Rear Brakes Replaced, Radiator Cap, AC System Recharge
138,037 $413.34 New Tires
138,338 $1328.50 Replaced Front/Rear Shocks/Struts
140,227 $157.69 New Serpentine Belt Replacement
150,612 $109.57 Cooling System Flush
159,165 $554.77 Front Brake Service/Brake Fluid Exchange, Spark Plug Replacement
171,096 $1398 New Throttle Body System, Cooling System Flush
171,249 $444.16 Front/Rear Brakes Replacement, New Mass Airflow Sensor
171,751 $48 Iridium Spark Plugs
171,785 $520 New Clock-spring, Horn Sensor
172,210 $172 New Battery
172,906 $190 Transmission Service/Fluid Exchange
177,273 $615 New Battery, New Belt, Fixing Coolant System Leaks
179,909 $817.52 Replaced Alternator, Replaced Lower Idler Pulley
180,131 $52.04 New Serpentine Poly Rib Belt, Replace Upper Idler Pulley, New AC Suction Line, Recharge AC System
188,231 $612 New Tires, $96 Alignment, Rear Struts $683.98, New Radiator Hose $344

This all equates to $9351 of repairs in the last five year. The car is 10 years old now and still runs great.

What do you all have to say? Is that about an average amount of maintenance for a car over this amount of miles/driving
period?

1 Answer

Are these dealer prices? I think you go along with every single suggested repair and maintenance item your mechanic tells you about. I could probably have maintained the car for half that.
