Navigator System Update Screen frozen

Asked by Dandy5509 Nov 04, 2017 at 09:24 PM about the 2010 Lincoln Navigator RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After inserting Disc 1 Of the System Update in my 2010 Lincoln Navigator the first screen came up saying installing Disc 1 this could take up to 25 minutes. The progress bar never moved off 0%. After 45 minutes I ejected the disc and turned my car off and then restarted it. The screen is frozen at the first system update screen.  Is there anything I can do to get the system to boot back up and operate?

I would try briefly disconnecting the negative battery cable then reconnecting it. This may reboot the system.

In another post on a similar subject it was recommended to not disconnect the battery as it could cause BCM Modules to crash. Not sure what the are exactly but now a little hesitant to unplug battery. I had thought about doing it but not sure. Is it safe to disconnect the battery?

Well let's see....if the battery needs to be replaced it needs to be disconnected. If you have concerns about disconnecting the battery just visit with your local Lincoln dealership's service department and they can tell you if it is safe to do so. Or do a "google" search on battery replacement for your vehicle.

Yeah after thinking about it I came to the conclusion that it didn't make sense so I did pull the Neg Terminal for a few seconds. The system now has loaded the system update but the map updates keep saying bad disc so I am calling the supplier Monday. I think they sent me some bad software. Thanks for the input.

Your welcome, it was worth a shot. Maybe the disc is bad.

Dandy5509. Did you fix your problem? I have the same

Nope didn't fix it. Took it t my ford dealer and they told my wife there was a disc stuck inside but that is not right as it is simply stuck on the first update screen. They then told her that they would have to send the unit to Ford and that it could take 3 to 4 weeks to come back and she could not drive the car while it was out.
