Question type: General

I have a 2009 BMW M6 convertible. I am not sure if it has a speed limiter. My dealer did not inform me about a speed limiter on the M6. Please help me find some info on this.

All Bmw's are limited to 155mph. The main sport sedan manufactures (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) have an agreement to not produce a car which can travel over speeds of 155mph. This was due to a power (bhp) war amongst the manufactures. So your BMW M6 will only reach 155mph. However this is only restrcted by a governer (Limitor) which i think is easily enough removed by an engine mechanic. The actual top speed of the BMW M6 (unlimited) is 207mph. Gota love that 5 litre V10!

Thanks! I will have my mechanic check it out! The M6 is a great car. You're right. The 5.0 liter V10 sounds great. That's why I opted for the cariolet version. It's no fun if everyone else can enjoy the noise the V10 makes but the driver can't. The cabrio is the way to go. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it! Gee, I wonder what the engine sounds like at 207 MPH? :)

Very good. Yeah the M6 has that amazing engine which you also get on the M5. Its won lots of awards (check http://en.wikipedia.org) I must say i am very jealous. May i ask what paint and interior you selected?

as adam said the 3 german manufacturers agreed abt a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited) but u can easily revome the speed governor concerning the sound that comes out of the engine i trully find it dramatic 507 bhp is enough torque to scare people when u'll be driving along + i've heard that the the 5.0 v10 sound is the closest to F1 sound, by the way Kyle have u tried launch control on ur M6 ?
