I have a 2009 RAV 4, husband bought Goodyear tires for it. Son says PSI for tires is 41, but door info says 32PSI. Which is correct?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am unsure of what tire pressure and do not want them over filled and have a
blow out. Son says tire PSI says 41, but door on RAV 4 says 32. Which doi I

The tire PSI is max for the tire and the more pressure the rougher the ride. Toyota wants you to have a good comfortable safe ride. So the more reasonable 32PSI is recommended. If your driving conditions change from normal daily road driving, your tire pressure may need to be raised or lowered for special circumstances (i.e. off road in sandy soil, or carrying a heaver than normal load) but at the conclusion returning to 32PSI would be prudent.

32 would work just fine. Just because the tire sidewall says it can be run at a maximum of 41 does not mean you have to. Personally I would probably run it at 35 psi.

When in doubt, your door is always correct. But the tyre could be a higher spec.
