Question type: Maintenance & Repair

'05 Escape honks the horn when I open the door and won't stop until I start the car??? I don't use a remote and I don't have an alarm system. Any way to disable this?

Put the key in the drivers door and unlock the door before you open it. It shouldn't honk then.....but open your fuse box and look for something marked horn.... check fuse box under the hood. IDK if there's another one inside the cab. But if you find the fuse, pull it out. Then you won't have to worry about using the key in the door Everytime.

Thanks. I figured it out. I also learned if I cycle the key in the ignition 8 times without starting it will reset the alarm that comes from the factory. A new car dealer will try and charge people for this when it comes from Ford already enabled........if you know how to set it up it doesn't cost anything. Another reason I don't buy from a dealer. That and sales tax.

Start the engine to kill the horn from honking. Then without starting the engine turn the key to the on positing then off 8 times and it clears the codes. The problem was a faulty drivers door latch switch. I replaced that and all is good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSETEzh9xEw
