Car won't start when warm

Asked by Adamfloridian Jan 12, 2017 at 05:18 AM about the 2009 Toyota Sienna LE 8 Passenger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello everybody.
Hello, Sienna09,when
engine warmsUp,it starts4
30 sec and shuts off like
there is no more fuel. The
car will keep cranking and
it won't start. When i
spray startup liquide , the
car will crank  and start
trying to keep my foot on
gas pedal and it feels like
there is no fuel on the fuel
lines.
Once, I unplugged  and
plugged fuel line hose by
Fuel Rail, i felt pressure
coming up" felt lots of air
and some fuel"  I then
cranked the engine and it
started within 3 seconds
like a charm and ran really
great. Now whenever my
car won't start when
warm, I just unplug it and
plug it back and it starts
and I don't have to wait 30
minutes.
By the way, the car starts
every other time when I
lesve the car for 30
minutes or more when it
us warm"Temperature
under the mid gauge"
Could it be fuel pump or
pressure regulator or
could it be fuel tank vent
or canister clogged?
Thanks I'm advance.

Yes your on the right track. To me it sounds like a plugged fuel filter. Replace that, try it, if you still have problems then check the fuel pressure. Like you said, could be a bad fuel pump or fuel regulator.

ASCWW:I have Toyota Sienna 2008, and when is cold starts good, when I drive point A to B turned of or reached there and the van runs like 4 to 6 minutes cuts off.3 lights were on like check engine, ABS this problem since last year.I spent from tune up to sensor changes close to $2,400 all the time mis firing bank one and bank two different codes.Today 10/12/2019 this morning at 9am,someone referred me to see Spanish mechanic in washing DC, all these problems were “Fuel pump” he changed and all problems were gone, and I’m so happy .
