Oil pressure sensor for 09 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A buddy of mine got his truck stuck in some
mud the other night and I had to yank him
out, today my truck is showing that I'm
getting no oil pressure when I get at about
50-60mph. Any idea if me yanking my buddy
out could have caused this?

No pulling him out did not do this. There is a screen under the oil pressure sending unit that has to come out and get cleaned or replaced. You might as well replace the oil sending unit also since it is out. So the screen gets gummed up and doesn't allow the oil sensor to read the correct oil pressure.

If you gave it hell yanking on him, you could have blown a gasket. More RPMs might make the problem worse if that's the case. Higher RPMs should equal higher pressure, so more pressure means more oil quickly lost in an area with no seal, which could be responsible for that loss of pressure. Check your oil level and all gaskets for leaks. Check for possible spray somewhere. Stock engines are not made for mudding and long intervals of high RPMs. Add snatching and jolting to the mix...and something will give. Luckily for the drunk guy trying to snatch my 93 Z-71 out as a young lad, his bumper gave out before his head gaskets. Never hook a snatch rope to a giant bobsled and your bumper.
