Just dealt with same and still dealing. It's obviously doing it to prevent further damage, is engine light on? My limp mode resulted in new fuel pump... well that didn't solve and was told it was the power control module at the tune of $1200. On drive home engine light back on so drove right back to dealer and now it's the engine cooling fan.., replaced that and 3 days lay Terr the light is back on and couldn't shift out of park.. towed to dealer and replaced gear shifter ($400) and drove home 5 days later and guess what.... light back on. That's where I am at now. Going back to dealer. Some of my issues are characteristic of the Chargers... good luck! And please let me know what happens.. the sudden limp mode is so scary
