Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 2008 Lincoln Navigator. When I put
my ac on highest fan setting it cuts off then comes
back on then cuts off again . It keeps doing this . I
changed my Resistor . It is still having the issue. I'm
not sure what the problem is. Thanks

It could be either too much or too little coolant... moost newer cars have both a high/low pressure safety switch

We have checked coolant and one of our mechanics has checked coolant . It has to be electrical . Fan works or other speeds and keeps blowing . It just happens on highest fan speed.

Coolant or Freon? I was talking about the refrigerant not the radiator ,,, sorry for my lack of using the right term

Bliss - what was it? I just bought a 2011 Navi and doing the same thing only when on high fan speed. off 15 seconds, on 6 seconds, off 15 seconds...repeat.

Same thing. I changed the resistor and it still does it so I just don’t use the highest setting.

Sounds like a relay failing. Highest blower speed causes biggest current draw & relay cuts out. Ours works fine on lower settings, everything shuts off (Climate control panel Display included) on hottest days if left on Auto (Fan tries to run at highest speed).

I just had an AC recharge and it wasn't blowing much cooler, went to autozone and procured a Pro AC canister 1.25 lb bottle and my AC took the whole can, so I went back to autozone and procured another can to top it off. When I tried to add the second can my compressor started turning off and turning on repeatedly, so I removed the recharge can and it wouldn't stop turning off and turning on with strange noise, so I thought to check the low charge line by depressing the pin in the port and a ton of air came out till finally the gas started coming out, stopped depressing the pin and now the compressor comes on and stays on, have a steady 53 degree F coming from vents during idle, so I hope all is well. I either have a leak or I pumped air into the line. I suspect the latter since the Pro AC has a stop leak additive. Anyway, thought everyone might like to know air caused my problem with on and off all the time.
