Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the coolant outlet in 2008 Ford Focus 2.0L due to a leak which
was clearly from the outlet. Should I replace the thermostat too?
Someone, that I don't know, stated it was strongly recommended because he
said the outlet issue was probably caused by the thermostat not working
properly.  Does this make sense? Right now, everything seems fine.  And the
thermostat seems to be a pain to do (so I'm hoping to leave it as is)

I understand your general logic (but the thermostat is not easy to get to, and if it has a sensor it is very expensive) - but I'm asking specifically if the possible cause of the water outlet busting could be due to thermostat not working properly. That doesn't seem to jive. But wondering if someone familiar with these engines would know.

Those plastic parts are known to fail. If the thermostat checks out there is no need to replace it.
