why are back up lights so poor ??

Backing up at night is hard enough... the lights are not very bright, therefore not very helpful...

just something the gov. made them put on cars .here where i live they dont even have to work to get inspection sticker.

Good observation. You might be able to find a brighter bulb to use in your "backup lights" or install a secondary source of light to be used only while backing up. Just a thought.
