hi dkacen,
Last I heard they had recalled a very, very small number of Camrys (some of the first sold) to fix the issue with the transmission. I think the issue has been taken care of and the 2008's should be issue free. Toyota has actually been very proactive in fixing the issue (even active in random forums providing assistance to consumers) and claims to have it completely resolved.

The trans issue you are talking about is the snap ring issue and yes that has been taking care but, the transmission shift flare problem has not to seperate issues. Go to 2007 camry transmission problems on your google site and check out carspace to see the on going problems with the transmission. Don't be fooled but the publicity Toyota is putting out to a small problem that has been taken care of, It has nothing to do with the current problems

To Mycamry:You are right. We bought a new 07 Camry,June of 06.From the very beginning we had trans. shifting problems.Took it back to the dealer 4 times and got ne where with the problem. The mechanics at the dealer said they were not aware of any trans. problems on the 07 Camry. We got rid of the car April 07 with 6k miles on it.We will never buy another Toyota. We now have a Honda EXL V6 Coupe.Great car!!!.
The 2007 camry 4 cly camry has a dangerous hesitation problem, and a downshifting problem. Toyota is aware of problem, says if the two tsb's do not work than problem is a normal inconvenience. purchased car on saturday by monday called det srevice dept, asked about hesitation/downshifting problem person on phone asked how long we owned car I said 3 days and was told to drive for atleast one week so car can learn driving habits. and dumb me fell for it . I should have done what i was feeling inside, and returned car, stop payment on check and got my old car back. always do what your gut is telling you. We owned the car 11 days, that was enough! When we traded camry back in at downeast toyota for the car we traded 11 days before, we lost 7000.00. when I asked kevin kelley the (general mgr) customer relations person why we lost so much money he told me he didnt hold a gun to my head to trade camry back in and he can do as he wants and there is nothing I can do. I can see if I just didnt like the camry but where there is a dangerous problem I do not see how down east toyota can get away with this. Toyota is no better, they tell you to call selling dealership(DOWNEAST TOYOTA) and when you do, det tells you to call TOYOTA and tell them. TOYOTA MOVING FORWARD????? THE best thing about this is that kevin kelley gets to sit at det and tell the loyal customers that this is a normal problem and not fix at this time but down deep he knows the truth. and me I am away from toyota and down east toyta for ever. I have purchased several cars from them but NEVER again. If you choose to buy one of these cars just look on any auto selling page and look for 2007 camry, look at how many are sitting on lot with less than 10,000 miles on them. there is a reason for this. JUST RENT A FOR ATLEAST ONE WEEK YOU WILL SEE FOR YOUR SELF!!
1 out of 1 people think this post is helpful.
I still have a transmission problem with my v-6 2007 Camry se and Toyota dosen't want to fix and try's to say it is normal. Though theyu replacesd my transmission before when they admitted there was a problem. So what was once abnormal in now mormalm as far as Toyota is concern.
BUYER BEWARE!!!

Toyota is not helpful at all, a john at toyota customer service admitted on the phone to me that there is a hesitation problem with the 2007 camry. with no fix if the 2 tsb do not work. call toyota and ask for john, ask him about the problem and when he says yes there is a problem ask him to put it in writting that there is a problem. when he says no, make sure you post that he would not on this forum. maybe we can not do much about toyota fixing problem but to warn others! word of mouth is best answer!
