overheating

Asked by roseylafd Jul 14, 2018 at 01:19 PM about the 2008 Ford Explorer Limited V8

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was in heavy traffic, outside temp about 90 degrees with my air conditioner
running. I noticed temperature start to rise and A/C shut down. As soon as  I
started moving temp returned to normal no visible leaks when I checked
engine.

It sounds like your radiator cooling fan is not coming on to provide air circulation when the vehicle is standing still in traffic. This could also over heat the engine. The fan motor may be stuck or burned out. Maybe the sensor or relay not working. Best to fix it soon.
